The story
MONIK began with a feeling I’ve carried since childhood, that my grandmother’s paintings were more than art. They are memories, lessons in creativity, and quiet stories passed between generations.
Monique taught me how to see colour, how to trust softness, and how to create with feeling.
Each of her paintings begins with something she saw, a place she visited, a moment she captured through her own photographs, and later reimagined through oil on canvas. Her art is a way of remembering, of translating the world back with feeling. That intention lives on in MONIK.
I studied fashion, always knowing I’d build something of my own one day including her vision. Years ago, I even brought her canvases to life through AR and VR, but MONIK found its voice in something slower: silk.
Scarves, like paintings, aren’t essential, but they hold meaning. A softness. A mood. A story you wear how you please.
For the first drop, I selected paintings that translated beautifully in colour and emotion. Some from France and from her travels.
Each MONIK piece is a quiet conversation between canvas and silk, past and present. A tribute to beauty, memory, and making something just because it moves you.
About Monique Georger
Born in 1941 in Anjou, France, Monique Georger is a French painter whose work draws inspiration from the luminous landscapes of the Loire Valley. This poetic connection with nature permeates her artistic practice, expressed through both watercolour and oil painting.
For Monique Georger, colour is the very foundation of painting. Rather than simply depicting a subject, she creates emotion through compositions in which form, light, and environment blend seamlessly together. Her works invite contemplation and celebrate the memory of places, fleeting moments, and human encounters.
From 1973 to 1978, she studied at the Académie de Port-Royal in Paris under the guidance of Claude Schurr, Daniel Ravel, Jean Marzelle, and Jean-Max Relange, distinguished figures of the École de Paris. Her artistic talent and dedication led to her election as a member of the Fondation Taylor.
Throughout her career, Monique Georger has exhibited extensively in France and abroad, with solo exhibitions in Paris, Angers, Geneva, Düsseldorf, Meppen, Chantilly, Krefeld, and Washington, among others. She has also participated in prestigious exhibitions and salons, including the Salon d'Automne, the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon de la Peinture à l'Eau, the Salon de la Marine in Paris, and the Jahresaustellung in Düsseldorf.
Her work has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Prix de la Jeune Peinture in Angers, the Prix du Paysage in Bourges, the Visitors' Prize at Galerie Drouant in Paris, and the Fernand Dupré Prize in 2009.
Today, through MONIK, Monique Georger's artistic legacy continues in a new form. Her original paintings are transformed into silk creations, allowing her timeless and evocative universe to transcend the canvas and be carried, worn, and shared across generations.
